Three Foreigners Fined After Lighting Fire On A Public Road In Phuket
PHUKET, Thailand – Three foreign nationals were arrested and fined after allegedly setting a fire on a public road and partying around it in Bang Thao, Thalang district, with footage of the stunt sparking anger among local residents.
Foreigner Attacks Phuket Tuk-Tuk Driver Over Unpaid Fare
The clip, posted on 27 September, showed a group of foreigners gathered around flames burning directly on the road surface. A woman in a revealing dress danced in front of the fire while others stood behind it. One member of the group reportedly filmed the scene and uploaded it to social media.
The video drew heavy criticism, particularly from Phuket residents worried about the danger an open fire poses to passing vehicles, pedestrians and nearby buildings or property. Some social media users who claimed to have watched the full footage said the group was drinking alcohol and using cannabis during the gathering.
Three Foreigners Arrested for Using Fake Money in Phuket
Officers from Choeng Talay Police Station reviewed the footage and identified three suspects, arresting them on 1 October. Police did not release their names or nationalities, but all three were charged with causing a public nuisance, fined and released. It remains unclear whether they will be permitted to stay in Thailand, with no further details on possible immigration action reported.
